Home Sad Home

So the Hunter's are all suffering from PTSD after seeing this in the yard next door on Monday...
Yep, it's official our Grimmett Family of bestie's have officially put their house on the market. We have known it was coming, this was always their starter home while Mikey finished school. They are busting at the seams in their 3 bedroom and we completely understand. But NO! We can't live without them right next door. We LOVE our besties and we can't handle our 3 little babies not running over every.single.day. just for a snuggle. We never dreamt we'd become so close. I don't care that it's only around the corner or a mile away, it's NOT going to be the same. I don't want to give up my doggie door sneakies, my sweet little hand prints all over my storm door.

I wish them the best, I pray whatever is supposed to happen will. But selfishly, selfishly, I hope it doesn't sell. Can we please just build an addition, their yard is plenty huge!!! WAHHHHH....

Zoe has informed them she isn't going. She is moving in here and that's final. Fine by us!

*sigh* I guess this taxi will just have 1 more daily stop. NO FAIR...

The Anniversary Weekend Continued...

Are you sick of hearing about it yet? :0)

So this past weekend the kids went to my parents house so we could have a weekend of snuggles! ha ha! Anyway we had a great weekend. We decided instead of buying gifts (trying to save for Summer Vacation), we would just wing the weekend. Do whatever, not plan, just whatever. Which is HUGE for this OCD Gal! But, it was great.

We dropped the kids off Saturday morning & went to lunch at the Black Angus. Then we decided to go watch Shutter Island.
It was scary a little, and I liked it alright. It was written well, definitely misleading, but not exactly what we thought. The ending is still a bit of a mystery to us. Next we shopped around the theatre.

We went to Wolf Lodge for dinner. Seriously the best steakhouse I have ever been to. It is our favorite! It is not remotely cute. Ambiance is to be desired. Dirt Parking Lot. 100 year old building.(used to be an inn) Always packed you must make reservations. A little pricey, but AMAZING FOOD! So worth it! The kids were totally burnt, cuz it's their fav too! Sorry guys! :0)
This is the grill in Wolf Lodge. They cook right in the restaurant over a wood fire. Look at all that salt on the edge of the rock, gross! Guess that's why it tastes so good!
Then, lol, we went to see another movie! Too funny I have never been to a movie twice in one day unless it was a double feature! So we had earlier decided to see When in Rome. It looks so cute, and hey it was my turn for a chick flick after Shutter right! :0)So...we(I) bought tickets, sat down in the movie and like 20 minutes into it, Hal said. Hey weren't we going to see When in Rome. OMGOSH! I bought tickets for Valentine's Day, LOLOLOL! What a NERD! It was fine, not as good as everyone let on, but probably mostly because I planned on seeing a different movie! I'll probly never live that one down!
The next morning we just hung out and then went to Toro Viejo for lunch before going over to my parents to get the kiddos & have dinner!

The kids were spoiled! Saturday afternoon they went to watch the high school basketball games with Jeni & Papa Ken, Out to Pizza, and then Bowling! They had a blast! Sunday morning they had Papa Ken's famous Waffles & Bacon and then went on a hike at Indian Trail. After all Haliee's crap she gave me for leaving her...She had a blast & didn't miss us a bit!

What a fun chill weekend! I need more of these! Maybe Hal will rub off on my a bit more in the next 14 years! Remember I said MAYBE! No Promises!!!

I LOVE LOVE!

Fun!

Last night we went to Church for the Friday night service instead since Hal and I are abandoning (ha, they think we are wrong to leave them at their Grandparents for an Anniversary weekend!). I was asked last week to help in the Kids Quest (K - 5) as the Middle & High School kids were at camp so most of the youth helpers were there chaperoning as well. Haliee and I helped and Hal went to the regular service. Afterwords, Daddy surprised us with a trip for a Gooey!

At the CDA Resort they have the yummiest Ice Cream Sundaes called Gooey's. They are HUGE & 1 of them will feed 4 easily! It is right on the water and 5 minutes from the house! The kids LOVE it! Me too! I tried to take a pic of one from their website but it wouldn't let me copy & paste. So here is the link if you want to see the gooey! Here are the pics of the restaurant from their site.

Afterwards, we were laying in my bed watching the Olympics, Drew was laying in between Hal & I but opposite us. So his feet were right next to Hal's head. Hal kept asking what that weird smell was, and finally he realized. Ewww...Drew it's you feet. YUCK. To which Drew replied, "Well, Don't worry Dad, the smell isn't much better down here either." LOL! I Laughed so hard! Witty little stink! Take that Dad!
Off to a snuggly weekend with my husband! Well, we'll see about the snuggles, one can hope right! :0) It'll be a nice time with my husband uninterrupted none the less! I'll take it!

The Davenport!

So I forgot to post on our Anniversary, Hal & I went to lunch at our FAVORITE Hotel! On our 10 year anny Hal surprised me with a staycation here at the Davenport. He booked us the Cutter Suite (he is the architect who designed the place in 1913.) He thought of everything, booked me a spa package, when I returned to the room, there were roses, chocolate covered strawberries, you name it! Now every year we go have lunch there as it is so beautiful! The food is amazing! Everything about the place is amazing. We always go look around in every nook and cranny! It so reminds me of the Titanic. They have completely restored the place. This trip we were reading all the stuff they have tucked away in their little curios all around the top floor and discovered Amelia Earhart stayed there in 1933, so cool! Here are some pics I hijacked from their site! The lobby is so beautiful too but the pics were on a flash player so i couldn't steal them. It has a grand piano, fountain, just so pretty. Here is the linky if you want ot see more or read some of the history!

If you ever come to Spokane, you must stay here! It is AWESOME! Hal so wants Haliee to get married here so he can dance his 1st dance with her in the Hall of Dogess (It's the room with the awesome painting on the ceiling!) Isn't it beautiful!!

The BEST Family LOVE Day EVER!!

Yesterday may have been the BEST Valentine's Day of my life! It was such a fun day! I LOVE being a Mommy every day, even the grumpy ones, but yesterday...TOPS the Charts! We had so much fun just being in LOVE!

It began like any other Sunday morning (Or at least the kiddos thought so!) I drank my coffee and sat at my computer (like every morning) answering emails, reading blogs, etc. I bet they thought I forgot. Hal was at work, I told them to shower for Church...Now normally every Valentine's Day all our food is red or pink, St. Patty's It's green, etc. I'm a theme girl. So I bet they were thinking, well where's our special breakfast!?! While they were upstairs getting ready, I whipped up some pink heart pancakes and pink vanilla milkshakes (hey it's a special day) When I called them down they were so surprised (especially by the milkshakes! Junk for breakfast?) AWESOME!!! :0)

P.S. Hal made fun of the fancy Chinet plates at breakfast. Come on' We needed to get ready for Church!

Church was great. An entire service based around LOVE, Family, Marriage, Commitment...I actually sat next to Haliee's teacher & his wife! FUN! :0) If only my Man wasn't stuck at work.

When we got home I made Hal lunch & took it to him. I made the kiddos heart shaped grilled cheeses, tomato soup, & Strawberry Slushies :0) I LOVE seeing their little over the moon faces!

After they finished I kicked them out of the kitchen so I could start the surprise dinner!! They had their own little trick up their sleeve so they quickly ran upstairs to get started! Hal is a little weirded out by the colored food, so for dinner I planned a menu around naturally colored red, pink, & white :0) Hal & Drew LOVE my lasagna (Sorry Haliee, she hates ricotta, so she just takes it out!) It was hard to hide all the baking because everything was from scratch so there was alot of mixing, rising, etc. They kept coming down to check if the coast was clear, lol, so I'd cover up everything and let them pass!

The Menu:
  • Salad
  • Lasagna
  • Heart Rolls
  • Sherbet Punch
  • Cranberry Bliss Cheesecake Bars

The kids LOVE Candlelit dinners and special place settings so I made us each place cards with our names. I also made them wait for their gifts until we could open them as a family, so they were extra anxious for Daddy to come home & dinner to be ready!!!

Finally @ 6:45...Dinner was served!!! They were so so so excited by the ambiance :0) I guess I should've gotten out the cloth napkins & tablecloth, but they didn't notice!!
Haliee got a new Aero shirt, Drew some new WWE action figures. Hal got me the sweetest card, some yummy Godiva chocolates, and chocolate covered almonds. Drew made us this sweet card at School!
AND...
Saving the very best for last was the kiddos surprise to us...
They worked on this surprise for a few hours as I cooked. They are so creative and it is by far the most perfect gift they have ever given this Momma!!! I had no idea what they were doing up there. They asked for wrapping paper, but I just assumed it was to wrap our gift! WRONG! They made us this life sized card! The front is hard to read because of the lighting, but it says Happy Valentine's Day! Love: Haliee & Drew 2010
When you open it up it has different scrapbook pages taped together to form the card. Each side of the card represents 1 kiddo. They traced each others bodies on their side and wrote little notes to us on the pages representing what they are thankful for and love us for. I.E. On Drew's side there is a sport page. It reads "Thanks for always coming to watch every one of my games."
Next they taped 2 envelopes on each side. 1 to each of us from each of them. Inside are handmade cards with love notes written on them. Again writing how much we mean to them and how thankful they are for us. For our commitment as parents, Daddy for working so hard, Mommy for always being there for them...IT MELTED OUR HEARTS. I was blown away. Everything was so sweet, so personal. They wrote the kindest words. I LOVE these babies more than they will ever know.

This was the best day! The least money spent ever and the best gifts I have ever received...LOVE, family time, precious gifts, & memories. I am so thankful for MY husband and babies. I don't know I deserve them. They make me strive to be the very best person I can be. God has blessed me beyond my wildest dreams...

After dinner we all piled into our bed and watched the Olympics as a family. When we came downstairs to turn everything off for bed. The kids were talking about how glad they were we were such a close family. How sad they were for kids who didn't have loving parents and siblings, and how much they loved each other. How LUCKY they were! Again, MELTED MY HEART. My kids are so close. Drew hates it when Haliee sleeps over at a friends. Haliee usually calls him to say goodnight. I have the best kids on the planet! Tonight is a night I wish I could freeze time! I tried to soak it all in the best I could! I am SO THANKFUL for LOVE.

This is going to be a great week! My Anniverary is Wednesday...YAY!
